Junior

Kitchen

Every recipe you cook, from wherever it came from.

Do you dread the Sunday question: what are we eating this week?

Plan the week's dinners in the week planner, and one tap makes one grocery list for all of it.

Save it from a link, a photo or a PDF. Scale it, share it, freeze a batch in portions, and count each serving in Health.

Kitchen opens on tonight: what's for dinner, what's planned next, and what's ready in the freezer.

The Kitchen screen: tonight's lemon chicken with crispy capers, the next meals this week, and what's ready in the freezer with how many portions of each.

The week ahead

Menus, the week ahead, and the shopping

Put dishes together as a menu, starter to dessert, with the wine. Plan the week's dinners around your calendar, and build a grocery list from what's planned.

Nights you're out are left out, and nothing goes on the calendar until you say the week looks good. Each planned dinner brings its cook time with it.

A menu in Junior called Saturday dinner: four courses and a bottle, the Lacombe opened an hour early, with the lamb shoulder pictured large and the other dishes beneath it.Plan this week: dinners for each night, one from the freezer and one not made in a while, with an Add to calendar button.

Saving a recipe

From a link, a photo or a PDF

Paste a link and Junior reads the recipe off the page. Photograph a cookbook page, up to five photos for one recipe, or upload the PDF. You can add a note as it comes in, like “one rack, not two”.

Every recipe scales from half to triple, and the saved recipe stays as written.

A recipe in Junior: slow-roasted lamb shoulder with white beans, the cookbook and page it came from, and buttons to add it to the calendar, edit or share it.

Per serving

What a serving adds up to

Recipes get nutrition per serving: read from the recipe's own label when it has one, estimated from its ingredients when it doesn't, and marked as an estimate.

Say you ate it and the calories, protein and the rest count toward your day in Health.

A day in Health: calories in, out and the balance, protein, carbs, fat, fiber, sugar and sodium against goals, and Saturday dinner logged with what was on the plate.

The freezer

Cook once, eat it three times

Cooked a batch? Put the portions in the freezer. Junior counts them out as you eat them, works out a use-by from the day you froze them, and puts the ones to use soon first.

Store-bought things go in by name. The dates are labeled as guidelines for taste, because that's what they are.

The freezer: seven portions across four dishes, which to use soon, a week of freezer dinners each with a night to move it to the fridge, and each dish's portions with Ate one and Adjust buttons.

Sharing

Send a recipe, or open it to everyone

Share a recipe with one person, or make a link anyone can open, and turn the link off when you're done.

Open a recipe to Community and everyone on Junior can find it. Anyone can add it to their own recipes as a copy they can change; your original stays yours.
