Junior

Wine

Your cellar, and when to open it.

Have you ever opened a bottle too early, or found one you saved past its best?

Check a bottle and Junior saves when to drink it, but only when the producer says or two sources agree.

What you have, what's open, what goes with dinner, what it's worth, and every bottle you've had.

Each wine gets its own page: the label, every vintage you have, what's open, what it cost, and what you thought of it.

With dinner

What goes with what you're cooking

Put a meal on the calendar and Junior looks through the bottles you actually have for ones that go with its dishes, with one line on why. Bottles whose window is closing come first.

Each wine also keeps what it pairs with, and the recipes of yours that fit.

Drink windows

When to open it, with where that came from

Press Check window and Junior searches for that exact wine and vintage. It saves a window only when the producer states one, or when at least two independent sources agree, and it keeps the sources so you can read them.

If it can't find that, it says there's no window yet rather than guessing. Years you set yourself always stand.

Open bottles

Open until it's finished

An opened bottle stays open across nights, at the top of your cellar, until you finish it. Pour from it, or from a Coravin, and say how much was yours.

Only your glasses count as drinks in Health. The bottle leaves the cellar once.

An open bottle card for the Lacombe Cellars Reserve Red 2018: open since Sep 29 with about three glasses left, buttons to pour from it or finish it, and how many glasses were yours.

Prices

What you paid, and what it's worth now

Paid comes from your own cellar log: every bottle you bought, at its price. A gift is a gift, never a made-up number.

Now is the middle of the retail listings Junior finds for that vintage, with the shops named. When a check isn't sure, it stores nothing. Prices are yours alone.

A wine's price for the 2018: paid $38 to $46 from the cellar log against about $58 now, the retail range, and the shops it was found at.

Drank

Every bottle you've had

At home, at a restaurant, with which dinner: every bottle you've opened, dated, with your notes. A wine's own page keeps its history as a journal.

The Drank list: bottles grouped by month, each with where and when it was opened, the meal it went with, and how many glasses.A wine's history as a dated journal: Coravin pours, a bottle opened with dinner, and bottles bought.
